Koningshof - Nature
The Koningshof is a peaceful nature area between Bentveld and Aerdenhout, on the edge of Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The former country estate covers around 43 hectares and consists of old dune woodland, open grasslands, dune valleys, ponds and stately avenues.
What can you expect in the Koningshof?
- Former country estate: During a walk, you can still clearly recognise the old estate structure, with avenues, ponds and monumental trees.
- Varied landscape: The area combines deciduous woodland, open dune valleys and grasslands. This makes a walk here feel surprisingly varied.
- Beautiful in every season: In spring, wood anemones, star-of-Bethlehem, wild garlic and other estate plants bloom here. In summer, the woodland offers lovely shelter, while in autumn the beeches and oaks turn beautiful colours.
- Spotting wildlife: With a little luck, you may see roe deer, woodpeckers, nuthatches, buzzards, rabbits and butterflies. Thanks to its peaceful setting, the area is also ideal for nature photography.
Practical information
- Location: The Koningshof lies between Bentveld and Aerdenhout. One of the main entrances is on Duinlustweg in Aerdenhout.
- Access: The area is freely accessible to walkers. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead in parts of the area to protect nature and wildlife.
The Koningshof is a relatively unknown, but particularly beautiful walking area for anyone who wants to discover the peaceful, green side of the Kennemerduinen.
