Lichtbakkeet - Observation point

The Lichtbakkeet viewpoint is one of the most beautiful spots in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. From this iconic dune top, around 32 metres above sea level, you can look out across dunes, woods and valleys, and on a clear day even towards Haarlem, Amsterdam and the North Sea.
What can you expect at the Lichtbakkeet?
Beautiful panorama: From the high dune top, you have sweeping views over the varied dune landscape of the Midden-Herenduinen.
- Historic name: The name Lichtbakkeet refers to a former light beacon that served as a landmark for shipping along the coast.
- Varied nature: Around the viewpoint you can see high dunes, drifting sand, grasslands, woods and damp dune valleys. With a bit of luck, you may spot Scottish Highland cattle, Konik horses or fallow deer.

- Great for walkers and photographers: The Lichtbakkeet is a lovely stop during a walk through the national park. The view is especially atmospheric at sunrise, sunset or in clear autumn weather.
Easy to combine: A visit combines well with other places in Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, such as dune lakes rich in birdlife and walking routes towards Bloemendaal aan Zee.
